T.Y. Lin International Welcomes Robert Sergeant, P.E., as West Region Director of Rail and Transit
T.Y. Lin International (TYLI), a globally recognized full-service infrastructure consulting firm, announces that Robert “Bob” Sergeant, P.E., has been hired as the new Director of Rail and Transit for the firm’s West Region. A civil engineering and transportation executive with a broad range of experience in program/project management and business development strategy, Sergeant will be responsible for TYLI expansion in the region, focusing on planning, design, and construction management services for freight rail, passenger rail, and bus transit infrastructure and facilities. He will also oversee client relationship management, project delivery, and recruitment and retention of key staff.
Sergeant comes to TYLI with over 35 years experience in the transportation industry, with notable expertise in concept studies, environmental documentation, design, design-build, and construction management for rail transit and highway programs. He has served as Principal-in-Charge, Project Sponsor, or Project Manager on numerous, large-scale rail and transit projects in the United States and abroad, such as California’s first High Speed Rail (HSR) segment, a $1 billion design-build project; the 1.5-mile underground extension of Caltrain and future HSR to the new Transbay Transit Center in downtown San Francisco; San Diego’s Mission Valley East Light Rail Transit extension along Interstate 8; the Houston Rapid Transit project, a $1.2 billion, 15-mile light rail system in Texas; and a new 47-mile, 49-station, fully-automated metro system in Dubai.

A registered Professional Engineer in California, Sergeant received a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
