T.Y. Lin International Appoints James Kanter, P.E., Fort Lauderdale Unit Manager in Southern Florida
T.Y. Lin International (TYLI), a globally recognized full-service infrastructure consulting firm, announces that James Kanter, P.E., has been named Unit Manager for the firm’s Fort Lauderdale office. Kanter has extensive business development and project management experience in South Florida. This includes his work for TYLI’s Caribbean and Latin America (CLA) Division over the past three years. Kanter served as Project Manager for a comprehensive improvement program at Maiquetía “Simón Bolívar” International Airport in Caracas, Venezuela, and performed several planning studies for Aerocivil, Colombia’s civil aviation authority.
Kanter assumes his new role with 29 years of experience as a well-respected engineering consultant in the Aviation and Surface Transportation Lines of Business, where his primary responsibility has been to expand the transportation and municipal services business. His aviation project experience includes the planning, engineering, and construction administration of numerous projects at major airports in Florida, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. He has also held leadership roles on civil infrastructure projects for the City of Miami Beach, the City of Miami, South Florida Water Management District, Miami-Dade County Parks and Recreation, Florida Power & Light, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Jacksonville).

A registered Professional Engineer in Florida and a LEED Accredited Professional (Civil), Kanter received a Bachelor of Science in both Civil Engineering and Architectural Engineering from the University of Miami, and a Master of Business Administration from Florida International University in Miami. He also completed Civil Engineering Studies at the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara, Mexico, and Architecture Studies at the Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia.
