David Goodyear, P.E., S.E., Receives Post-Tensioning Institute Fellow Award
David Goodyear, P.E., S.E., T.Y. Lin International Senior Vice President and Chief Bridge Engineer, was selected as the recipient of the 2012 Post-Tensioning Institute (PTI) Fellow Award for his outstanding contributions to the post-tensioning industry and significant contributions to PTI committees. Goodyear received the award at the PTI Convention on May 8, 2012 in Nashville, TN. Established in 1976, PTI is recognized as the worldwide authority on post-tensioning dedicated to expanding quality post-tensioning applications through research, code development and marketing.
T.Y. Lin International Wins ACEC Grand Award for Harbor Drive Pedestrian Bridge
T.Y. Lin International (TYLI) received a Grand Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) for its work on the Harbor Drive Pedestrian Bridge in San Diego, California. The awards were announced at ACEC’s 46th Annual Engineering Excellence Awards (EEA) Gala in Washington, D.C. Known as the “Academy Awards” of the engineering industry, the EEA recognize preeminent engineering achievements from throughout the world.
Iconic Rose Creek Bikeway and Pedestrian Bridge over San Diego’s Mission Bay Now Open
The Rose Creek Bikeway and Pedestrian Bridge, designed by T.Y. Lin International (TYLI) has opened to traffic. Under construction for a year, the $2.9M bridge– renamed the Mike Gotch Memorial Bridge after the former Mission Beach-based San Diego City Councilman–was dedicated on April 20, 2012. The project is a major enhancement to the Mission Bay bicycle and pedestrian circulation network, completing the northeast section of the bicycle and pedestrian path circling Mission Bay. This project extends the bike route eastward between Campland and Mission Bay High School, crossing Rose Creek and connecting with North Mission Bay Drive. The new bridge crossing Rose Creek has an overall length of approximately 260’ and a clear width of 14’.
BART Silicon Valley Berryessa Extension Project Breaks Ground
The Silicon Valley Berryessa Extension Project (SVBX), the 10-mile, first phase of a 16-mile Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) line extension from Fremont to Milpitas, San Jose and Santa Clara, California, had an historic groundbreaking ceremony on April 12, 2012. T.Y. Lin International (TYLI) is serving as the Joint Venture Prime Designer on the Skanska-Shimmick-Herzog Joint Venture team for Phase 1 of the $2.3 billion, BART line extension from Warm Springs to the Berryessa area of San Jose.
Hoover Dam Bypass/Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge Wins Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement Award from the American Society of Civil Engineers
T.Y. Lin International (TYLI) announced today that the Hoover Dam Bypass/Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge project was named the winner of the 2012 Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement (OCEA) Award for superior engineering achievement from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). TYLI engineers led the design of this landmark span, which now complements one of the foremost engineering wonders of the world: Hoover Dam.
