T.Y. Lin International (TYLI), a globally recognized full-service infrastructure consulting firm, announces that construction of the new Cypress Avenue Bridge, which is the main artery over the Sacramento River connecting east and west Redding, has been completed and is officially open. The $62 million project, of which close to 90% was paid with Federal funds, began four years ago and consisted of widening Cypress Avenue from four to six lanes and replacing two steel girder separate spans with a single 1,025-foot-long, five-span, haunched, cast-in-place prestressed concrete box-girder bridge. The signature bridge also provides safe pedestrian and bicycle lanes with scenic views, in addition to meeting current seismic requirements. The new iconic structure serves as a gateway to the City of Redding as it spans the Sacramento River and heads west towards City Hall.
