TYLin provided project management for the refurbishment of the La Roca Village shopping destination in Barcelona, Spain.
La Roca Village is among the nine European Villages of the Bicester Village Shopping Collection, one of the world’s leading luxury shopping destinations. TYLin provided the preliminary and detailed designs, procurement, construction, and final negotiations, along with the execution of a new underground car park. The renovation of La Roca Village will enhance the shopping experience of visitors from China, Russia, South Korea, and the Middle East.
The Village is the first tourist destination in the country outside of Barcelona and one of the most visited attractions. It has more than 140 stores from the main international and European fashion and home decor brands.
The project included demolition of old buildings and the construction of seven new buildings at one end of the shopping mall, with a total built-up area of 3,873 m2. Designs follow the existing architectural concept of the village. These buildings will house 23 commercial premises, a tourist office, and a space for meetings and conventions. The mall hosts walking areas as well as terrace areas for catering.
- The project, promoted by Value Retail, secured the BREEAM EXCELLENT seal.
- The underground car park was built on two floors below ground level, with a total built-up area of 25.840 m2 and 756 new spaces.
- The project included the highest quality finishes, significantly above the market standards for this type of infrastructure.
- The whole operation totals 29,713 m2 under cover, which the mall and perimetral development areas are added to, including surface parking areas.
