CTA Blue Line Station Improvements
TYLin provided structural engineering design and construction administration support services for upgrades and improvements to five Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) Blue Line stations in Chicago, Illinois.
TYLin’s scope of work included platform reconstruction, curtain wall restoration, canopy restoration, upgraded passenger amenities, and extensive lighting upgrades.
The design-build project included the heavily used Addison, Irving Park, Montrose, Harlem, and Cumberland stations, all of which parallel the city’s John F. Kennedy Expressway.
Project Highlights:
- The multiphase project was scheduled to minimize impacts on CTA passengers, train operations, and adjacent vehicular traffic.
- Extensive reconfiguration at the Addison station included adding a new elevator and extending the platform.
