T.Y. Lin International Group (TYLI), a globally recognized full-service infrastructure consulting firm, announces that its Singapore office, T.Y. Lin International Pte. Ltd., has been awarded the architectural and engineering consultancy services contract for Singapore’s proposed Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Circle Line (Stage 6) Depot. As the Lead Consultant, TYLI will provide the design of the depot as well as construction support for the Land Transport Authority.

The Circle Line (Stage 6) Depot project involves designing an extension to the existing underground Kim Chuan Depot, which serves both the Circle and Downtown MRT Lines in Singapore. The existing depot is approximately 1,080,000 square feet, fully underground with capacity for stabling 77 trains, and provides train maintenance, operational control and administrative facilities. When complete, the overall extended depot footprint will be approximately double its current size and will have capacity for stabling and maintenance of 130 trains. With the extension, Kim Chuan Depot will be one of the largest, fully underground MRT depots in the world.

“We are particularly honored and proud to have been awarded this contract, as the current Kim Chuan Depot facility was designed by T.Y. Lin International over 10 years ago,” said Teh Hee Seang, T.Y. Lin International Pte. Ltd. Chairman. “This project will add further to our track record in MRT infrastructure in Singapore, which includes the design and construction of a significant portion of the MRT network and its associated infrastructure to date.”

Rail and Transit is a core line of business for TYLI’s Singapore office. Most recent MRT projects include Downtown Line 3, Thomson Line, and Thomson Line Depot, which are all currently in the construction phase.

For the Circle Line (Stage 6) Depot project, TYLI will direct the delivery of an integrated design for the depot facility by coordinating and managing the delivery of the rail system, including all civil, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering, and architectural design requirements. The TYLI scope of work includes project management; civil, structural, geotechnical, mechanical and electrical services design; contract packaging; and preparation of specifications and documentation for the main civil contract, as well as construction coordination and support and risk management services. The project is scheduled for completion in 2025.
