David Goodyear, P.E., S.E., T.Y. Lin International Senior Vice President and Chief Bridge Engineer, was selected as the recipient of the 2012 Post-Tensioning Institute (PTI) Fellow Award for his outstanding contributions to the post-tensioning industry and significant contributions to PTI committees. Goodyear received the award at the PTI Convention on May 8, 2012 in Nashville, TN. Established in 1976, PTI is recognized as the worldwide authority on post-tensioning dedicated to expanding quality post-tensioning applications through research, code development and marketing.

Throughout his distinguished career of 35 years, Goodyear has been a pioneer in the design of record-setting bridges and new methodologies for bridge construction engineering. He was the Chief Bridge Engineer for the 1,900-foot-long Hoover Dam Bypass Bridge. It is the highest and longest concrete arch in the Western Hemisphere and the second-highest bridge of any kind in the U.S., featuring the tallest concrete segmental columns of any bridge in the world. Goodyear designed the new 10-lane Port Mann Bridge in Vancouver, BC, which will be the second longest cable-stayed span in the Western Hemisphere.

Goodyear is a Charter Member and recent past Chairman of the PTI Committee on Cable-Stayed Bridges and is the author of the original PTI Provisions for fabricated strand stay cable erection. His development of erection-to-grade for cable-stayed bridges is now one of the most common and successful erection engineering methodologies in the industry.
