TYLin provided design review services under two separate design-build contracts for the expansion of King Abdul Aziz Airport (JED) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Working on a team led by sister company Dar, TYLin provided design review services for Special Airport Systems (SAS) in association with a new passenger terminal and related facilities to increase the airport’s annual handling capacity to 30 million passengers.

The first design-build construction package focused on the Terminal Control Tower and supporting facilities while the second package included aprons, taxiways, roads, tunnels, bridges, infrastructure, the transportation center, and supporting facilities. TYLin provided design review services for air traffic control (ATC) systems, aircraft stand equipment (ASE), information communication technologies (ICT), and baggage handling systems (BHS) under the first package. For the second package, our team provided design review services for ICT.

The new terminal features an ultramodern design for ease of operations, passenger comfort, and efficiency for aircraft movement and ground support equipment.

The project included installing state-of-the-art systems, such as flight information display systems, departure control, building management system, data network, security systems, access control, flight operation management, life safety aspects, public address, baggage handling, aircraft docking, and more.

Project Highlights:
